NEW TREES FIND A HOME AT KIGALA!!
On Saturday, October 5th, 2013, with great team work and choreography, all three trees were planted, and our outdoor classroom has transformed yet again!
Thank you again to Jason and his crew, for planting the larger trees, Podocarpus grac and Mayten, and Kigala parents, Michael J., Josue and Jacobo for plant the olive tree.
TREE CEREMONY WITH GERMAN CONSULATE
Then on Friday October 11, Kigala Staff, Children and parents welcomed The German Consul General, Dr. Bernd Fischer, and Ms. Diana Wiese, Cultural Affairs, to our tree ceremony, where a generous grant was presented to Kigala. The children cut the ribbon to officially welcome the new trees into our outdoor playground.
We even got a mention on the German Consulate Facebook page.
Kigala would like to thank everyone involved who gave their time, donations and support to achieve so much in so little time.
to our “Cooler Kigala” Fundraising Program today.
NEW TREES ARRIVE AND MORE!!
Kigala is proud to announce that together with the continued support of Kigala parents and community, three additional trees will be delivered on Saturday, October 5th in the Kigala outdoor classroom (playground). The final purchase of these trees was made possible in part by generous grant from the German Consulate.
The trees and the bob cat will arrive at 9am and you are welcome to stop by and observe the transformation.
Jason and his crew will be planting the larger trees, Podocarpus grac and Mayten, and Kigala parents, Michael J., Josue and Jacobo will plant the olive tree.
Please join us!!!
On Friday, October 11th at 9 am, we will have the official tree planting ceremony. The German Consul General, Dr. Bernd Fischer, and Ms. Diana Wiese, Cultural Affairs, will be present and you are invited!
If you would like to join in the tree planting ceremony and meet our German Consulate Representatives, please contact the front office. Your support is welcomed.
In addition to the trees, generous donations by our parents and community will make it possible to purchase and install two awnings for the back building, which will replace the two canopies currently providing shade in the art area. In addition to shade, the awnings will provide beauty and more space for the children to be creative.
All this great support, and the newly planted trees make for an even more exciting Open House Event!
So, remember to pick up your Open House flyers to help share the word. And please see our Open House Sign Up Sheets to view the many ways you can help – food, preparation, support is much appreciated!!
Thank you for your continuous support!
PHASE 2 – Can You Help For More Shade?
Dear Kigala Supporters:
Our vision at Kigala Preschool is to create a rich and healthy environment for the children in our outdoor classroom (otherwise know as our playground). A big part of that vision is to provide an abundance of greenery and natural shade.
With our ornamental Plum Tree in place, our plan for the Kigala Outdoor Classroom is to plant two additional trees.
In order to make that dream come true we will need to raise $2,200 for one tree or $3,000 for two trees.
Any contribution, $15, $25, $50, $100 or more is welcome.
With the help from some Kigala parents, we are already halfway to our goal of raising enough money to plant these two remaining shade trees. Can you help…more?Email Your Pledge Today and THANK YOU!

Spring Fund Raiser – Be There, April 27th!
You are invited to our Spring Fundraiser!
In anticipation of the summer heat, we are hosting a fundraiser to help improve Kigala’s outdoor playground with umbrellas, water misters and trees. To reach this goal, we are asking your participation and attendance for this event, with many ‘must-have’ silent auction items, plum tree planting ceremony and potluck brunch. Bring the whole family, invite your friends, alumnis welcome!
There are several ways you can help:
1) Silent Auction: Donate items or services. Examples include: books, toys, professional services, etc.
2) Silent Auction: Ask local shops and/or businesses to sponsor or donate items. Examples include: event tickets, gift cards, store vouchers and credits, gym or museum memberships, professional services, products that could be auctioned. Sponsors will be listed in Spring Fund Raiser news on kigala.org, in addition to name recognition along side the donation item, at the Silent Auction.
3) Party Book: Organize and host a fundraising party/event. Parents host a fundraising party that is added to a “Party Book,” which is distributed to all Kigala families, who can then sign up for the party/ies of their choice. A fee is collected from each attendee (eg $20/child) with proceeds going to Kigala. Fundraising parties are usually thematic, such as a Tea Party, Baking with children, Movie and Pizza night, Ice Cream Social, Soccer Picnic in a Park, Arts & Crafts, Group Sports Lessons, Messy Backyard Art Party, to name just a few. The party ideas are limitless. Throw an Adult specific party, such as a Wine and Cheese Tasting, Cooking/Baking lessons, Concert/Theater/Opera event. These parties can be intimate affairs for 8-10, or more, and ideally, can be held throughout the year, to help fund school improvements throughout the year. These parties are also great way to promote Kigala community and help our children bond outside the school environment.
Our goal is to hold the Silent Auction Event in conjunction with a fun Spring Tree planting ceremony. We will have a potluck brunch and a lot of fun for the whole family!
Stay tuned. More details to come.
Kigala Preschool would like to thank all our generous supporters and personal donors of this very special spring fundraiser event.
